Restricted Work Areas

The following spaces are categorised as restricted work areas by GCCEC

  • Loading Dock
  • Expo halls – when high-risk activities are taking place. This includes stand construction or dismantling, rigging, and forklift movement.

In order to access these restricted areas, every person must -

  • Have completed the relevant induction for the type of work they are undertaking, and show proof of induction to GCCEC Security personnel.
  • Be 15 years of age or older.
  • Be wearing High visibility vest or equivalent, and enclosed footwear.
  • Put on their wristband issued by GCCEC Security personnel.

When you arrive at GCCEC for Bump In / Bump Out

If you need to deliver goods to the loading dock
Contractors and exhibitors arriving via the loading dock must enter and leave via GCCEC Security Control.

Contractor wristbands will be issued by GCCEC Security Control. Wristbands must be always clearly visible whilst on GCCEC property, unless otherwise authorised by GCCEC.

If you are entering GCCEC through the front doors
You will be asked by GCCEC Security personnel to show proof that you have completed a relevant induction. Your proof will be your certificate of completion. Save your certificate to your Apple or Android wallet, or print a copy to show staff on arrival.

GCCEC Security personnel will then issue you with a wristband, which must be worn in the halls and loading dock at all times.

Failure to comply with the access controls policies of the GCCEC may result in persons being prohibited from undertaking any work, or expulsion from the GCCEC.

Site Rules

Pre-Expo Safety Checks

Event Managers and GCCEC Safety Liaison Officers will help monitor safety from time to time during bump-in (and bump-out). These activities are undertaken as part of GCCEC assurance processes and are not a substitute for exhibitors’ safety obligations.

At the conclusion of the set-up period, a pre-expo safety inspection will be conducted. If a safety issue is identified at your stand, you will receive a phone call / text message, and you will be asked to return to the expo hall to fix the problem. SPLASH! Trade Expo will not open to visitors until all stands are safe.

Emergency exits, aisles, and fire hose reels
It is prohibited under Australian Legislation for any identified fire safety installation including fire doors, emergency exit lights, fire hose reals, and extinguishers to be blocked or obstructed in anyway.

3 metres wide clear aisles must be maintained, to allow easy access to emergency exits. Do not place equipment in the expo aisles.

Spa or pool chemicals
Use of hazardous chemicals is discouraged. However, if they are required to keep your water clean –

  • You must advise Wise Connections.
  • Your handling of chemicals must comply with Government legislation.
  • Spa or pool chemicals cannot remain on-site after you have used them to treat your display water.

If you are exhibiting pool chemicals because that is your core business, please use empty packaging for your display. This not only removes the risk of injury and damage to property, it reduces weight so your expo stand will be easier to assemble and dismantle.

Electrical Equipment

Test & Tag
Any power cord plugged into an expo stand power point, must be have a valid test tag attached. This includes brand new power cords, phone chargers, and laptop power cords.

Event Managers and GCCEC Safety Liaison Officers will ask you to unplug your equipment from the power source, if it has not been tested & tagged.

Testing & tagging services will be available on-site Tuesday 20 Aug, 9.00am – 5.00pm, and Wed 21 Aug, 7.00am – 9.00am.
