Custom stands

Over recent years at SPLASH! Trade Expo, we have seen impressive custom stands and product displays. We know how important it is for brands to stand out, and recognise the value custom stands bring to the event. Your colour and creativity are welcome.
If you are planning to build a custom stand, the following rules and guidelines apply.
Build time
- Monday 19 August, 06.00 – 18.00
- Tuesday 20 August, 06.00 – 13.00
- Tuesday 20 August, 13.00: high risk construction work must be complete by this time. You may continue top dressing, setting product displays, cleaning etc.
- Please contact Wise Connections immediately, if you will require additional time.
- Deliveries of crates and other equipment will be accepted Monday 19 August.
- If you have engaged gel Events to forward your freight, your goods will be delivered directly to your stand space.
Dismantle time
- Thursday 22 August, 17.30 – 22.30
- Friday 23 August, 06.00 – 16.00
- Please note, all stands located in Central Rooms and Hall 4 must be dismantled Thursday night. We do not have access to these spaces Friday.
- Please contact Wise Connections immediately, if you will require additional time.
- All items must be removed from GCCEC Friday 23 August.
Your space
- Marked-out space on carpeted floor (venue carpet)
- Power is not included, but can be ordered through ExpoNet

- ExpoNet is also able to create and build custom stands for SPLASH! Trade Expo. If you’d like to discuss a custom build, please email Jade at jade@exponet.com.au.
- Exhibitors are not permitted to access power directly from floor power pits. Access is strictly limited to GCCEC and ExpoNet licensed electrical contractors.
Custom Build approval
By Friday 14 June, you will need to submit the following information to Wise Connections, for organiser and venue approval. This information is to be submitted via your Exhibitor Planning & Requirements Form on your exhibitor portal. This form will be available by the end of April.
- Detailed design build plan
- Floor plan
- Risk management documentation – risk assessment, SWMS, fire solutions, water safety plan
- Stand builder and/or designer Certificates of Currency for Public Liability Insurance (minimum A$20 million), and for WorkCover
GCCEC reserves the right to request additional information and clarification on all structures being erected.
Custom Build regulations
The design and construction of any temporary building or structure must comply with Building Code of Australia (BCA), National Construction Code (NCC), statutory regulations and be constructed in-line with the relevant Australian Standards. The exhibitor, stand builder and/or designer is responsible for, but not limited to, ensuring:
- Detailed design build plans are available for any custom build stands, two-storey structures, scaffolding or temporary seating.
- Documented controls in a Risk Assessment and Risk Management for all construction work.
- Contractors have relevant Public Liability Insurance, Certificate of Currency for WorkCover.
- Construction meets fire retardant standards (e.g. non-combustible, non-flammable).
- Construction work is completed off-site where possible.
- Qualified tradespeople are utilised for construction work.
- Permit systems are followed for hot work, confined space and working from heights.
- Safety information instructions for housekeeping and electrical safety are followed.
- Clean up (i.e. need to have vacuum cleaner) and disposal of any residue is considered.
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are on site and accessible for any chemicals used on site.
- GCCEC site safety rules on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), clothing and induction requirements are followed.
Enclosed stands that have hard or non-pervious ceilings, that obstruct GCCEC’s installed fire detection and suppression wet pipe systems must have an alternative fire solution installed. This can be achieved by the installation of portable fire extinguishers, with appropriate signage, and suitably trained staff.
Floor levels – raised floors, steps, ramps, edging and landings:
Any changes to floor levels present a safety hazard and/or accessibility challenges and must comply with the relevant National Construction Code (NCC), and Australian Standard and Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
Complex stands or structures may require documentation to verify that the structure is safe to inhabit e.g. engineer’s certificate, load capacity, or installation as per manufacturer’s directions.
Exhibitors’ responsibilities
By Friday 26 July, submit to GCCEC your Pre-Event Health and Safety Checklist. This only applies if you are engaging external contractors.
Exhibitors have a responsibility to comply with the WHS Act 2011, WHS Reg 2011, Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and the GCCEC health and safety requirements relevant to their work activities.
The duties of Exhibitors before, during and after the expo extend to those who build and man their stand, as well as those who visit and pass by their stand.
Exhibitors must ensure that those engaged to undertake work on their stand are competent and licensed if applicable.
