It is a requirement of GCCEC that all contractors complete the venue induction, and supply relevant documents pertaining to their activity, prior to arrival. Required documents will vary per activity – below is on overview of the minimum requirements.
PLI | Public Liability Insurance | GCCEC requires a minimum of $20,000,000 cover for all high-risk contractors. Low risk to be assessed on receipt of insurances. |
WC | Work Cover | All employers with at least one employee must carry and supply certificate of currency. A chronological methodology to carry out a task safely. |
SWMS | Safe Work Method Statement | A chronological methodology to carry out a task safely. SWMS documents must state the date, event name, location and venue where work is carried out. All staff on the day will be required to sign the SWMS prior to working. Required for high risk works and activities. |
RA | Risk Assessment | An assessment of a task or environment to mediate all hazards. Required for high risk works and activities. |
CP | COVID-19 Plan | A Safety Management Plan to mitigate the risks of an outbreak of COVID-19. |

Any equipment or item to be displayed, or used during an event, which weighs more than 1500kg (Ground Floor) or measuring over 2.4m in length or height, must be assessed prior to the item or the equipment being approved for delivery to the GCCEC. (A structural engineer’s report maybe required this will be at the stand holder’s cost). Exhibitors are required to provide Wise Connections with the following information. Wise Connections will submit this information to GCCEC as part of the SPLASH! Trade Expo MIMO schedule.
Emergency exits, aisles, and fire hose reels
It is prohibited under Australian Legislation for any fire safety installation including fire doors, emergency exit lights, fire hose reals, and extinguishers to be blocked or obstructed in anyway.
3 metres wide clear aisles must be maintained, to allow easy access to emergency exits. Do not place equipment in the expo aisles.
Fire retardant materials
All materials used to drape walls for theming must be rated as fire retardant. The drape must have a certificate attached to the drape and or available for inspection.
The use of materials within structures should also be fire retardant and such consideration must be given when styling / theming structures.
